Commercial Pilot Certification

With this 21-credit concentration, students take theory courses on the SFU campus taught by certified flight instructors from Nulton Aviation Services.

The program places an emphasis on the professional skills and flight instruction theory for graduate marketability. It provides students with the opportunity to build flight time and earn up to a Commercial license.

The concentration pairs well with any degree, but some majors may be more demanding than others. Students should consult with their advisers to see if adding the concentration would impact their graduation timeframe.

The courses in this concentration prepare the aspiring career pilot for immediate entry-level employment in the aviation industry.  Coursework covers commercial level aerodynamics, aircraft systems, federal aviation regulations, aircraft performance, aeronautical decision making/human factors, flight physiology, and navigation.

Degree Paths

One of the most appealing items about the SFU program is the freedom to choose any major you like. This allows the student to pursue a degree in something other than aviation while still earning their ratings.

Facilites

The facilities at Saint Francis are modern and equipped with new technology which allows for intuitive and interactive learning. While the campus sits among the pines, it isn't far from both Johnstown and Altoona.

Lifestyle

The smaller class sizes allow for more one-on-one interactions with both the professors and other students. Students at SFU are able to balance academics, sports, and aviation. You will truly "Become that someone."
